Supporting People with Learning Disabilities in Bereavement
This topic has never been more timely and important. Bereavement and loss is everywhere. Almost all people with learning disabilities will know someone who they loved, and who has died. What can we do to support people?
This webinar is for everyone: family, health or social care professionals (in any setting), policy makers… We all need to get better at supporting people with learning disabilities through bereavement.
Our speakers have decades of experience in research and practice, and will share some of their knowledge and insights including:
• How bereavement affects people with learning disabilities
• Innovative methods of providing bereavement support, such as using pictures (e.g. Books Beyond Words) and art
• How we can support people with profound learning disabilities in bereavement
• What we can do during coronavirus restrictions
The webinar also includes contributions from people with learning disabilities.
An event part of the PCPLD Network webinar series with Baroness Sheila Hollins, Prof Irene Tuffrey-Wijne, Gemma Allen and Dr Jed Jerwood.
