Disenfranchised Grief & Perinatal Loss on the Ray D’Arcy Show with Liz Gleeson & Brenda Casey

This was a great experience. Thirty minutes on prime time National Radio speaking about all the ways that Grief can be disenfranchised. Giving language to the experience and letting listeners know that they aren’t alone in it all – the text lines were very busy, with all the listeners sharing their stories of Ambiguous Loss and Disenfranchised Grief.

Brenda Casey and I were given a wonderful opportunity to talk about the depth and breadth of this topic:

👏The ways in which Grief can be disenfranchised
👏Perinatal Loss
👏When grief is acknowledged versus when grief is ignored
👏LGBTQ specific issues with loss
👏When the circumstances of a death disenfranchise the grief, such as suicide, overdose or homicide, to name a few.
👏When the deceased isn’t talked about
👏When we grieve a relationship that we’ve lost to drugs, or alcohol or poor mental health
👏 And much more

Thanks very much RTE for giving time to this very important topic that is relevant to all of us, in some shape or form.
